Eligibility
Institute members are expected to support the exchange of ideas across disciplines, participate in Neuroscience Institute activities, and be willing to collaborate with other members. All University of Chicago faculty members engaged in neuroscience research and education are encouraged to join the Institute. Membership will be based on current research, education, and clinical endeavors, as well as past contributions and collaborations.
PARTICIPATING REQUIREMENTS
Appointments will be five years and may be renewed. In order to maintain membership, members must continue to contribute to the goals of the Neuroscience Institute and are expected to engage meaningfully in at least one of the following:
- Conduct research in neuroscience
- Teach neuroscience courses or advise neuroscience students
- Collaborate with other Neuroscience Institute members
- Serve on committees and subcommittees of the Neuroscience Institute
- Attend meetings and seminars hosted by the Neuroscience Institute
- Attend periodic meetings of Neuroscience Institute members
Application
Faculty who wish to be members of the Neuroscience Institute must submit a request to neuroscience@uchicago.edu, including:
- A current CV;
- Cover letter requesting membership with a statement of the anticipated contributions to the Neuroscience Institute.
Membership Governance
The Membership Committee of the Neuroscience Institute will be responsible for reviewing applications for membership and requests for renewal of membership. Application for membership will be considered from any full-time University of Chicago faculty member.
Recommendations for appointment require the approval of the member’s home department chair, the endorsement of the member's divisional Dean or Director, the endorsement of the BSD Dean, and the approval of the Provost.
